Utility work blocks section of Gainsborough – The London Free Press

West London commuters might want to take another way home from work.

Gainsborough Road between Coronation Drive and Aldersbrook Road has been temporarily shut down for utility work for a new development, the city said in a statement.

The roadway will be closed to drivers and cyclists from around 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Pedestrians will be rerouted to another sidewalk during the 10-hour closure.

Drivers and cyclists will be detour onto Fanshawe Park Road.

The temporary roadblock is the latest in a long list of summertime construction closures in the city.

Drivers can expect up to eight weeks of delays on Adelaide Street North between St. James and Piccadilly streets as Bell rebuilds manhole covers in the intersection.

Drivers won’t be able to make left turns in any direction. Westbound cars won’t be able to make right turns either from Oxford Street onto Adelaide.

Major construction projects in the downtown – on Dundas Street near Ridout and York streets between Thames and Talbot streets – have blocked traffic for weeks already.
