Senior who went missing from nursing home struck by train – The London Free Press

An 87-year-old man reported missing from a nursing home is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a train in downtown London Tuesday evening.

Police say the man was reported missing from an unspecified nursing home in the area at approximately 8:45 p.m. A full-scale search that included the canine unit was launched.

Witnesses say the man crossed the tracks near the VIA Rail station on York Street near Wellington Street. CN Rail contacted London police after a train struck the man.

The man was found conscious and breathing and was taken to hospital where he was in stable condition as of Wednesday morning, police said.
