Police investigate New London assault that put man in hospital – theday.com



New London — City police are investigating an assault that occurred late Friday and left a man injured.

A report of an assault brought officers to the Millennium Inn at 14 Colman St. about 10:50 p.m. Friday. They found a man bleeding from his mouth and with a cut on his head. Police said he’d been knocked unconscious by his assailant, who they said was known to him.

The injured man was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment and remained hospitalized Saturday, police said in a news release on the incident.

Officers canvassed the area where the incident was reported and gathered evidence, the release said, and they continue to investigate.
