Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters are tackling a fire at a restaurant in Norbury, where passers-by have been told to ‘get back in case it explodes’ by police.

London Fire Brigade was called to the scene on London Road at 11.48am on Monday (September 28), and part of the ground floor of the building is alight.

Fire crews from Norbury and West Norwood fire stations are at the scene, as well as Metropolitan Police officers.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

One video shared on social media shows thick grey smoke coming from the restaurant.

A police officer then encourages members of the public to move back – in case it explodes.
