RAIN: New Met police officers bravely continue their Passing Out parade despite the weather

Tourists and Londoners alike received a soaking in the capital, with many appearing unprepared for the sudden shower.

Dramatic photos show a man improvisingly using a newspaper as shelter, while others are forced to share umbrellas.

Meanwhile, with rain interrupting play in the England vs India Second  cheeky spectators are seen running onto the ground and sliding on the slippery covers.  

However, the inclement weather didn’t prevent 70 new Metropolitan police officers from bravely continuing their passing out parade despite the biblical downpour.

A video posted online has shown dozens of people outside Hammersmith Underground Station queueing to cross a patch of ankle-high rain water by using a bridge made of chairs.

The makeshift crossing was created by workers at a nearby Pret A Manger, which tweeted: “We chair-ish our customers.”

The station was eventually closed due to the growing number of people refusing to leave because of the puddle, which was about 150cm across.

The sudden rain came after an abrupt end to the summer’s record-breaking heatwave in the capital – and forecasters say more downpours are expected.
