Around 60 firefighters are battling the inferno at an industrial estate in Lanrick Road, which broke out at around 12:30pm.

London Fire Brigade has urged residents to keep their windows and doors closed while it tackles the blaze in the capital’s East End.

Shocking images posted on social media show the smoke billowing across the A13.

Fire crews from Plaistow, Millwall, Shadwell, East Greenwich, Stratford and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

London Fire Brigade said: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to a fire at an industrial estate in Lanrick Road .

Residents and businesses should close windows and doors while we tackle a very visible large fire which is producing a lot of smoke.”
