London fire: Fire breaks out in Westminster – firefighters race to blaze in heart of city –

There are 10 fire engines at the scene and 70 firefighters in attendance.

The crews were called at 6.09pm.

The fire started above a shop in Queensway.

Two people are being treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, the Metropolitan Police said.

Scotland Yard said the building is in the process of being evacuated.

Lewis Styles, 23, lives just metres away from the blaze.

He said: “I was in the area walking and I saw quite a lot of fire engines parked up and I saw two women getting pulled out of the windows.”

One eyewitness claims a woman was puled from the building.

It has engulfed half of the first floor and also the second floor.

Fire crews have been called from Kensington, North Kensington, Paddington, Soho and Hammersmith.

People took to social media to post the images, with one commenting: “Fire on Queensway, smoke pouring out of the building hope everyone is alright!”

The blaze is located near Kensington Gardens and Bayswater station.

It is also near Kensington Palace and the Princess Diana Memorial Playground.
