The victim, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital after the brutal stabbing in Sidcup, south-east London, this evening.

He was airlifted to a nearby hospital by London Air Ambulance, but police were unable to confirm his condition.

The knifeman remains at large following the horrific attack.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: “Police were called at 7:10pm to reports of a stabbing at King George’s Recreation Ground in Sidcup.

“The emergency services attended. A man, believed to be in his 20s, has been taken to an east London hospital.

“We await an update on his condition. There have been no arrests. Enquiries are ongoing.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 7:12pm today to Longlands Road, Sidcup, to reports of a stabbing.

“We sent an incident response officer and an ambulance crew. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a person at the scene and took them by air to a major trauma centre.”

“The frequency with which some of our young people are prepared to take each other’s lives is shocking.”
