Line rupture leaves yellow water in White Oaks – The London Free Press

Don’t mind the yellow water in London’s White Oaks neighbourhood, the city says. The rupture of a large water main released rust from water pipes throughout White Oaks on Sunday, the city said in a Sunday night advisory.

WATER MAIN BREAK: Residents in the White Oaks area may notice yellow water due to rust released during a water main rupture earlier today. The rust does not represent a health concern, but may stain laundry. Crews are repairing & expect water to be clear this evening. #LdnOnt

While the water may appear off-colour, yellow until the rust has been flushed from the system, it’s not a health concern but may stain laundry if used to clean clothing, authorities say.

The city was repairing the water main and expected clear water to begin flowing Sunday night.

Anyone still noticing discoloured water Monday is asked to call 519 661-4739.
