Heat warning issued for Sunday, Monday in London region – The London Free Press

London is feeling the heat this holiday weekend.

Environment Canada issued a heat warning for the London and surrounding area shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Middlesex London Health Unit also issued a heat alert of its own that will come into effect on Sunday.

Humidex values are expected to soar to 40 C during the two-day heat event starting Sunday.

The national weather agency said a hot and humid air mass will move into Southern Ontario on Sunday and will remain on Monday. Daytime highs of 31 C or higher are expected both days, with overnight lows of about 20 C providing little relief from the heat.

A cold front is expected to move through the area on Tuesday, which will bring an end to the short heat event.
