Eat Out to Help Out: Our favourite London restaurants offering the discount in August – Evening Standard

Reviews, recipes and a feast of flavours

Everyone loves a bargain, don’t they? And when it’s one that involves supporting the capital’s restaurants in their hour of need, the bang you get for your buck includes a bit of good karma too.

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme announced by Rishi Sunak earlier this month aims to offer everyone in the UK just that, encouraging diners back into the country’s restaurants, pubs and cafes.

In essence, the government is helping restaurants to offer 50 per cent discounts on food and soft drinks every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in August. The reduction will cap at £10, and the government will reimburse the restaurants for all the discounts. If you want a little more info on how it works, check out our full guide here.

So far, more than 32,000 restaurants have signed up to be involved – and that’s not just the big chains. Many, many independent restaurants have revealed that they will be taking part too – including some of our favourite London hotspots.

While there are many more restaurants out there offering discounts in August, we’ve picked 25 of our favourite places to have announced their involvement to date. This ranges from affordable joints where £10 will easily cover half the price of your food, to fine dining experiences where the discount will help keep the bill down a bit.

From dirty burgers in Brixton to Michelin-starred meals in Mayfair, here’s our pick of foodie destinations in the capital to enjoy your Eat Out to Help Out discount at.

Sam’s Riverside The Hammersmith restaurant boasts a new seafood terrace on which to enjoy a discounted waterside meal. 1 Crisp Road, W6 9DN, samsriverside.co.uk

Bone Daddies The rock’n’roll ramen joint will be offering the discount at its Bermondsey, Victoria, Soho, Bond Street and Old Street locations. W8, SW1, EC1, two locations in W1, bonedaddies.com

Murano Angela Hartnett’s Michelin-starred Italian will be offering the deal, as will the Bermondsey and St James’s locations of her more casual Cafe Murano restaurants. Queen Street, W1J 5PP, muranolondon.com

Gymkhana The Michelin-starred Indian has just reopened for the second time in the year (the first after a fire forced it to close last year) so it’s one we’ve missed more than most. It’s offering the discount alongside all of JKS Restaurants’s open locations, which also includes Brigadiers, Hoppers (Marylebone and King’s Cross), Trishna, Berenjak, Lyle’s, Flor, Sabor and the Borough location of Bao. 42 Albemarle Street, W1S 4JH, jksrestaurants.com
