So we have checked out TripAdvisor to get the low down on the best restaurants to eat in Croydon.

Sitting among countryside whilst enjoying an afternoon tea isn’t an obvious image that springs to mind when we think of Croydon.

But Nineteen at Farleigh offers exactly that.

Farleigh Golf Club is a relaxed bar and restaurant set amongst 350 acres in the North Surrey Downs and customers adore the place with most rating the restaurant as ‘Excellent’ on Tripadvisor.

Priding themselves as being an independent family business which serve authentic Mediterranean cuisine, The Med Kitchen is a hit with the locals.

One happy customer shared her experience on Tripadvisor and said: “Lovely evening in here tonight. Excellent food in a COVID safe environment. Fantastic service from out waiter Gino! Will return soon.”

Currently, Tripadvisor states this restaurant is ‘temporarily closed’ so do check if you’re planning a visit.

Taking third place of the best restaurants in Croydon is Italian wine and pizza bar, Basil & Grape.

Located in the town centre, this establishment boasts some of Italy’s finest labels as well as a number of delicious cocktails.

Food offered ranges from paninis, salads and spuntini (which are Italian meats and cheeses served on large sharing boards) to stone baked artisan pizzas.

On Tripadvisor, 3/4 of visitors rated the restaurant as ‘Excellent’ so they must be doing something right.

And it’s easy to see why.

Located on the High Street, this stylish bar and Italian restaurant reeks of sophistication and glamour thanks to the Milan-inspired surroundings, which include a long white stone counter and cool, bright interior.

Visitors can enjoy a glass of their favourite wine in the bar, or eat dinner at in the 200-seat restaurant and choose from a delicious menu of pasta, pizza dishes, fresh fish and the best cuts of meat.

One customer was very impressed with a particular dish and said: “Excellent restaurant! Polite stuff and lovely food as always, can’t go wrong with the lobster spaghetti.”
