BREAKING: Huge INFERNO rips through luxury flats in London – Daily Star



About 100 firefighters raced to the five-storey Victorian-era home in Inglewood Road earlier this morning. 

The flames could be seen for several miles across London and bystanders posted several images of the blaze on social media. 

One witness said: “Fire is now ripping into the next series of flats to the west of the original fire.

“45 minutes now and it is not under control.” 

Another added: “Huge fire in West Hampstead Victorian mansion building burning through the whole building. 

“West end lane closed at the moment people are being looked after at the Black Lion pub on West End Lane at the moment.”

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “The fire is on the top floor of the five storey block and very visible for miles around. 

“The Brigade was called at 1.04am. Fire crews from West Hampstead and surrounding stations are at the scene.”

Station Manager Clainton Murray said: “The fire is believed to have started in a flat on the fourth floor. The fire is also affecting the roof and in the early stages was very visible for miles around.

“Firefighters assisted two people from the first floor and around 50 have evacuated the block.”

The fire is still burning, but is believed to be under control. 

An investigation into the blaze has been launched.
